Easter: Things You Missed

This Easter season had family, traditions, food, and tons of church events. Here are some favorite “golden eggs” from the week. Hope you learn something:

Some of Jesus’ last words on the cross are from Psalm 22. Verses 1 & 2 contain “Why have you forsaken me?” BUT read the rest of the Psalm! Verses 4 & 5 are clutch. Did Jesus ever really feel betrayed?

People who rarely go to church attend on Easter Sunday...and it is great. I think it is fun that everyone gets to do the “Sunday church thing” together. Community is important, and it is good to be in the house of the Lord together. At San Diego First Church, we recognized the redemption with each person putting a flower on the cross. It showed what the cross means to the community. It was gorgeous. (photo above)

I dressed up as an Easter bunny (pause for whatever you feel about that). Lesson learned: I had forgotten what it was like to have childlike wonder…

Seder Dinner Lesson: The Jewish people break a glass during wedding ceremonies to remember the suffering of their people, in the midst of their most joyful occasion. That way, in all moments of joy there is the story of suffering, but also in all suffering the moments of faithfulness and joy are remembered as well.

What did Saturday look like for Jesus’ followers?

What did Jesus do Sunday morning before the women found him?

The Kingdom has come, but it has yet to be fulfilled.

With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.
— Acts 4:33

What did you see that I missed this weekend?
